Biochar Risk Assessment Framework

“The Biochar risk assessment framework’s aim is to develop a methodology in order to identify, prevent and minimize any potential risks associated with the deployment of biochar in soils. Its main outcome is to work as a prelude to the development of a Publicly-Available Specification (PAS) and/or Quality Protocol that can subsequently be used by public organisations, charities, NGOs, or private companies in the UK interested in producing and deploying biochar in a safe and effective way (see, for comparison, PAS100 for composts and the Compost Quality Protocol).” (From Ibarrola, Hough & Shackley. Biochar risk assessment framework)
