The British Biochar Foundation
Whether you’re a producer, user, researcher, sceptic or just a little curious about biochar, we would like to help. Our “Mission” is the sustainable deployment of biochar in the UK and we hope to provide a place for developers, producers, users, enthusiasts and anyone else who is interested, to come together to share problems, knowledge, experience, ideas and contacts.
At present the topic of biochar still causes some controversy and there remain important information gaps and uncertainties - as with any emerging sector. We plan to engage fully with these debates and controversies and welcome membership or just participation by biochar sceptics as well as enthusiasts. Let’s see if we can find a better, more sustainable, way forwards by taking criticism of the biochar concept seriously, try to resolve issues and put safeguards in place where we can’t.
We are an unusual carbon project in that we are not only focused on discussion, debate and serving as an information and networking centre, but also as an action based Foundation that will be actively encouraging and supporting all aspects of sustainable use and production of biochar in the UK. Discussion is good, but action is even better.
Please feel free to have a look around as we are sure that there will be something of interest for you. If you can’t find what you are looking for, have any suggestions or just want to talk to one of us about biochar, please don’t hesitate to get in touch through one of the routes provided.
The web site is an ongoing project and will grow organically with the Foundation, so some of the pages are still under construction. We hope to update and add on a regular basis so please make sure you come back regularly.
